About the role

The Wikimedia Foundation is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Content Platform team, which owns wikitext: the markup language behind Wikipedia.

The team works to make wikitext easier to write, faster to parse and less error-prone, maintains the web services that render and transform content, and supports editing and content analysis tools with structured representations. You would design and deliver improvements to that processing infrastructure, balancing user experience, performance, backwards compatibility and maintainability. The code is open source and serves well over half a billion page views a day.

The Foundation is remote-first with staff in more than 40 countries, and pay outside the US is adjusted to the country of hire.
