About the role

Canonical, the publisher of Ubuntu, is hiring a Web/UI Engineer to develop data-rich and reliable user experiences for its enterprise products, the company's face to its users. These frontends are built with JS, CSS, React, and Flutter. To create consistency across products and sites, a central team builds an open-source React toolkit and presentation layer, the Vanilla Framework, and Canonical is excited to develop it further to help more open-source projects build performant, accessible interfaces. REST APIs are used for communication, and API design is treated as an important part of the process. Flutter is a growing specialism with the potential to unify desktop and web development. Canonical is a globally distributed company of 1100+ colleagues in 75+ countries, founder-led, profitable, and growing.

Qualifications

  • An exceptional academic track record from both high school and university, with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or a compelling narrative about your alternative path.
  • Experience designing and writing high-quality web technologies, with experience in and passion for TypeScript, React, or Flutter.
