About the role
A new-grad engineering role with a published salary band is rare enough to be worth pointing at, and this one is $110,000 to $140,000.
SpruceID builds standards-based digital identity and credentialing, the machinery behind things like mobile driving licences, and it works with state governments and public-sector partners rather than selling a SaaS seat. The role is on the forward-deployed engineering team, which means building full-stack features for those deployments alongside customer delivery leads, engineers and UX designers, and learning to turn a government requirement into a production system. Codebases span backend, mobile and browser, and the work has to meet public-sector security, privacy and accessibility standards, which is a different discipline from shipping fast. There is open identity standards work in it too, at W3C, DIF and IETF.
What it asks for is modest and specific: a bachelor's or master's in a computing field, and foundational backend experience in a statically typed language, with Rust, Go, C# and Java named and coursework, internships or personal projects all counted. React, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, REST or GraphQL, cloud platforms and CI/CD are all listed as nice to have rather than required. The posting says outright that it is not looking for someone who already knows everything, and commits to named mentorship, structured onboarding and regular feedback. One hard limit: US-based, and no visa assistance, though TN status is considered. Remote, US.
