Sr. IT Systems Engineer

Zapier is looking for a Sr. IT Systems Engineer to play a direct role in implementing and improving the IT infrastructure that powers a globally distributed, 100% remote team. Working closely with Engineering, People Ops, and Security, you will implement, manage, automate, and support the tools and services the whole company runs on. Zapier believes a good IT experience is a perk: it keeps people productive and engaged rather than getting in the way. You will help maintain a world-class Mac experience, streamline access management through SSO and automation, and scale IT infrastructure and processes as a service owner. This is not an IT helpdesk job, though great customer service for Zapier's IT needs is part of the role.

Responsibilities

• Okta administration as the primary responsibility: implement SSO applications, manage onboarding and offboarding, and build automation workflows using Okta Workflows and Zapier.
• Drive SaaS spend optimization: automate license utilization monitoring, act on rightsizing opportunities (unused seats, duplicate tools, tier mismatches), and build reporting on spend trends and renewal risks for leadership.
• Build tools and processes that eliminate manual work, automate user account creation, and integrate tools via API.
• Resolve IT issues as they arise and build automations to eliminate recurring request patterns.
• Perform provisioning and deprovisioning as part of onboarding and offboarding workflows.
• Manage dozens of SaaS tools (Google Workspace, Jira, Slack, 1Password, Zoom, and more) and help enhance the employee Mac experience.
• Participate in the IT Systems on-call rotation via PagerDuty to ensure availability and reliability of internal IT infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of direct hands-on experience in the roll-out, maintenance, and support of an expanding IT infrastructure; the fleet is all macOS.
• Excellent written communication: Zapier is fully remote and writing is the primary means of collaboration.
• Relationship-driven, understanding that building and maintaining trust across the organization is vital.
• Creative and resourceful in implementing simple, scalable IT solutions that meet the needs of today while seeing the big picture.
• Solid time management across fast-moving projects, trusted to work with minimal supervision.
• Comfortable with shared on-call responsibilities, approaching them with ownership while maintaining healthy boundaries.
