About the role
Tenable is seeking a regional Channel Sales Engineer to serve as the technical backbone of its southeast regional channel team and partner ecosystem. You will live at the intersection of technical expertise and relationship building, acting as a trusted advisor to VARs, MSPs, and integrators. Your mission is to empower the partner community to become technical champions who can independently position, demonstrate, and deploy Tenable's security platform to solve complex visibility and vulnerability challenges.
Responsibilities
- Partner enablement: conduct technical training sessions and workshops to certify partner engineers, including deep dives into OT/IoT security, cloud security (CNAPP), and identity exposure.
- Joint sales support: assist partners in high-stakes discovery calls and demos, and oversee the technical execution of Proof of Value and Proof of Concept engagements in complex network environments.
- Architectural advisory: help regional partners design security workflows that integrate with existing customer stacks such as SIEM, SOAR, and ticketing tools, and build packaged services like managed vulnerability offerings.
- Lead technical discussions on proactive security, including vulnerability assessments, risk prioritization, and attack surface management.
- Act as the technical bridge between internal product teams and partner engineering teams, developing channel assets including demo scripts, reference architectures, and competitive battle cards.
- Keep regional partners informed on the latest cyber threats, zero-day vulnerabilities, and compliance requirements (CIS, NIST, GDPR), and represent Tenable at trade shows, partner summits, and technical meetups.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in sales engineering, partner engineering, or technical consulting within the cybersecurity industry, plus a Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Deep understanding of the cyber exposure lifecycle, Zero Trust architecture, and the MITRE ATT&CK framework.
- Hands-on experience with cloud security for AWS, Azure, or GCP, including container security (Docker/Kubernetes) and infrastructure misconfigurations.
- Understanding of AI-driven threat detection and experience leveraging generative AI or LLMs to automate security reporting, script generation (Python, Bash), and orchestration.
- Proficiency in packet analysis, firewall configuration, and navigating complex VLAN and segmented environments.
- Professional-level security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH preferred.
- A teacher mentality with a knack for simplifying complex technical concepts, and willingness to travel up to 30-50% to visit partners and attend industry events.
