Senior Site Reliability Engineer, Volcano

Kong is building an internal developer platform called Volcano for its own engineering organisation: on-demand preview environments, edge deployments, managed PostgreSQL, auth, realtime and storage APIs, integrated with Kong's own products. This role is the reliability owner for it.

Because the platform is greenfield the job is defining a reliability posture rather than inheriting one. SLOs, error budgets and incident practice across every Volcano service; the multi-region Kubernetes infrastructure, networking and data plane underneath; the GitOps and CI/CD backbone in ArgoCD, Helm and Terraform; and multi-tenant Postgres, Redis and object storage with data isolation and disaster recovery to get right. The posting makes a point of instrumenting services before they go live rather than after the first incident.

The initiative runs out of Kong's Office of the CTO, so it comes with the access and the visibility that implies. Remote within the United States.
