Software Engineer III

GitHub is looking for a full-stack software engineer to join the npm team, which is responsible for the open source tools that empower the JavaScript ecosystem to create, distribute, and consume packages. The team actively contributes back to the wider open source community, including the Node.js Project, the OpenJS Foundation, the Open Source Security Foundation, and TC39. You will work with a distributed, diverse, and passionate team delivering features and improvements to open source projects relied on by millions of developers, collaborating with external community contributors as well as internal stakeholders across engineering, design, security, support, product, and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Write, review, and maintain code and technical documentation.
• Interact with the community, consumers, and contributors on a daily basis.
• Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to define, design, and develop new features that align business objectives with end users' wants and needs.
• Help triage and remediate bugs and security vulnerabilities.
• Steward some of the most impactful JavaScript open-source projects, relied on by millions of developers and enabling billions of downloads to the world's largest package registry.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in software engineering or a related technical discipline delivering production software in languages such as C, C++, C#, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2+ years of experience with cloud services.
• 2+ years of experience developing and debugging large scale projects, applications, or developer tools.
• Preferred: 2+ years of experience with Node.js.
• Preferred: 3+ years of experience with cloud services, including AWS development.
• Preferred: experience building applications adhering to the highest security standards.
• Preferred: experience using AI-assisted coding and productivity tools.
