PHP Engineer

MailerLite $60K - $75K/year Posted 3 days ago

100% remote Europe only · EMEA & Central Asia (remote)

About the role

MailerLite is one of the fastest-growing email marketing services, helping more than 1 million businesses around the world stay in touch with their customers. The team of 170+ is fully remote, and customers send millions of emails per day, so scaling the platform is a challenge that will keep you energized. MailerLite is looking for a PHP engineer to maintain and implement new features across its products, with full ownership of your tasks and team leads who avoid micromanaging so you can stay focused.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the existing codebase that serves hundreds of thousands of users daily.
  • Implement new features with a focus on delivering impact and value to users.
  • Take full responsibility and ownership of your tasks, from investigation through delivery.
  • Experiment, learn, and try new things as part of a team always looking for innovative ways to offer customer value.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience with PHP, JavaScript, and HTML, comfortable in large codebases as well as with the latest tools and technologies.
  • Experience with at least one of these frameworks: VueJS, React, or AngularJS (the team uses VueJS).
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git.
  • Ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries, plus knowledge of Redis and queues.
  • Ability to work across codebases and platforms, writing clean code with test coverage and building scalable applications.
  • A self-starter with an investigative mindset for thinking out of the box, a sense of personal responsibility, and proficient verbal and written English.
  • Pluses: familiarity with other languages (NodeJS, Golang, Ruby), knowledge of any PHP framework (the team mostly uses Laravel), and familiarity with ElasticSearch.
  • You are based in the EMEA or Central Asia region.

Skip the traditional CV, MailerLite likes to do things differently: applicants are asked to create a landing page that shows their way of thinking.
