About the role

The Staff BPM at 1Password implements and runs the operating mechanisms that keep the engineering organization aligned and moving. This role owns planning cadences, leadership rhythms, and decision follow-through so engineering leaders have clear priorities, visibility into risks and dependencies, and reliable execution of the business of engineering. You'll partner closely with Product Operations and Technical Program Managers to ensure shared planning, reporting, and cross-functional narratives stay consistent across Product and Engineering. This is the engineering-side implementation owner for operating rhythms, not a TPM role responsible for day-to-day delivery of engineering roadmaps.

Responsibilities

  • Operating cadence ownership: design, run, and evolve core operating cadences for Platform and Product Engineering (delivery reviews, business reviews, leadership and all-hands inputs), ensuring clear agendas, inputs, owners, and follow-ups, with AI-assisted drafting and synthesis where appropriate.
  • Lightweight mechanisms: create repeatable ways to gather updates and unblock decisions without adding unnecessary process.
  • Delivery visibility and reporting: partner with Product Operations, TPMs, and functional leaders on end-to-end delivery status reporting, leveraging AI tools to accelerate rollups and spot emerging risks and dependencies.
  • Executive-ready synthesis: turn cross-team updates into decision-ready narratives that clarify progress, risks, tradeoffs, and decisions needed.
  • Milestone, dependency, and risk management: establish and maintain tracking for broader org programs and business initiatives, including AI-supported signal detection such as trend spotting and dependency mapping.
  • Cross-team alignment: drive alignment on program milestones, owners, and timelines; surface risks, constraints, and tradeoffs early, and maintain clear escalation paths.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in program management, business operations, or similar roles in a technology environment.
  • Proven ability to run cross-functional operating cadences and planning processes with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong facilitation, stakeholder management, and written communication skills.
  • Comfort working in ambiguity and improving systems over time.
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to improve the speed and quality of synthesis, reporting, and documentation, with appropriate review and confidentiality practices.
  • Preferred: experience supporting an engineering organization in close partnership with Product Operations and TPM, portfolio visibility and lightweight reporting experience, and a record of operationalizing AI-enabled workflows without adding process.
