As a Senior Software Engineer, you will build intelligent, context-aware experiences that integrate directly into the workflows developers use every day, partnering with engineers, product managers, and designers across GitHub to turn cutting-edge AI into reliable, high-impact capabilities at global scale. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and ship high-quality technical solutions that scale across multiple GitHub services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement innovative AI-powered experiences.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, pairing, and code reviews to encourage the growth of others.
- Own and advocate for the health and quality of the team's systems, including on-call and first responder rotations.
- Write architecture briefs and proposals, carry out code experiments, and build prototypes aimed at planetary scale.
- Design and implement APIs to facilitate seamless integration between software components.
- Use CI/CD tooling to set up automated pipelines for continuous integration and delivery.
- Become intimately familiar with the systems you build and take pride in writing maintainable code.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of software engineering experience delivering production software in languages such as JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, Python, or Java.
- Preferred: hands-on experience with modern front-end technologies such as React, TypeScript, CSS, and HTML, and with design systems.
- Preferred: 2+ years with scripting languages and general purpose programming languages.
- Preferred: 3+ years with cloud environments and CNCF concepts.
