Senior Data Scientist
DuckDuckGo Posted about 1 hour ago $178.5K
About the role
DuckDuckGo is a remote-first team of 300 or so, founded in 2008, profitable since 2014, with annual revenue above $100 million. The salary here is one figure rather than a range, because of a policy the posting states outright: everyone at the same professional level and in the same global region is paid the same, and the figure is transparent across the company.
The role is on the Data Science functional team and spans the search engine, instant answers, the AI products and revenue optimisation. The recent projects listed give the clearest picture of it: defining core growth metrics and building the monitoring that spots anomalies in them, measuring full-funnel impact of Duck.ai marketing campaigns with Bayesian methods, building pipelines that detect unexpected shifts in search traffic, expanding evaluation datasets for page-context understanding across awkward cases like multi-tab browsing, and improving the triggers that decide when an AI-assisted answer surfaces in search at all.
The constraint that makes this job different is in the posting too: DuckDuckGo's data meets its own privacy standards and is therefore sparse, so the work is finding defensible answers without the volume most data science assumes. Asks are 7+ years and a track record of leading complex projects from scoping to production with minimal direction, production-grade Python, advanced SQL against a columnar store, and at least two of production ML, NLP, applied LLM work including fine-tuning and LLM-as-judge, or Bayesian marketing analysis. One stated limit: company-sponsored health benefits are US-only and do not extend to other countries. Remote, from Europe, the UK or the United States.
