About the role

Online developer learning has shifted toward just-in-time learning via generative AI and away from owned web properties. As Senior Staff Education Engineer, reporting to the Director of Developer Relations, you'll build an online education strategy that leverages these changes to support awareness and adoption of 1Password's developer tools. You'll create AI and search-optimized content, tutorials, blogs, and technical assets that demonstrate features in context, and educate users in the real world through in-person labs and conference presentations that generate high-fidelity feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Build evergreen, code-complete, hands-on examples that teach developers how to use 1Password's products in the most technically relevant contexts.
  • Educate users with content that is clear, approachable, easy to navigate, and relevant to real developer problems.
  • Align the organization on opinionated best practices for the developer tooling and publish them where the community can use them most effectively.
  • Present reusable in-person labs, conference presentations, and other engaging content that encourages continued learning.
  • Curate educational content from 1Password employees and community members that addresses real-world use cases.
  • Strategize with data to evaluate education formats and maximize the impact of high-investment activities beyond their normal lifespan.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in technical roles including software or platform engineering, developer advocacy, or solution engineering, with deep familiarity with modern development workflows.
  • 3+ years crafting educational content and experiences for developers: hands-on tutorials, documentation, best practices, conference presentations, instructor-led workshops or labs.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication across formats including tutorials, videos, demo code, and reference architectures.
  • Proven collaboration with the teams building the content platform to improve usability, searchability, and AI compatibility.
  • Experience using data to optimize documentation, evaluate content strategy, identify gaps, drive traffic, and generate engagement.
  • Experience collaborating with technical product marketing, social teams, customer support, and subject matter experts.
  • Bonus: experience with security-conscious developer communities or products (Identity, Auth, DevSecOps).
