About the role

Vercel is looking for a Visual Designer to join its Website Design Engineering team. Your home base is Vercel's web presence: vercel.com, nextjs.org, product launches, and Ship, where you will design pages, systems, and interactions that get built and shipped, not just handed off. The impact is bigger than the site: you will shape how the Vercel brand shows up in the world, from launch moments and event experiences to motion, illustration, and brand-partnership surfaces across digital and physical mediums, working shoulder to shoulder with design engineers who turn design into production code. This is first and foremost a visual design role: exceptional creativity and design craft for the web are what matter most, and coding is never a requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Define the visual language of Vercel's most-seen surfaces and set a creative direction the whole team builds from.
  • Create the moments people remember: hero animations, launch films, event environments, and brand-partnership work that reaches across screen and physical space.
  • Own the creative vision end to end, from the first spark of a concept to the finished result shipped on the real web.
  • Set the craft bar: the typography, motion, and detail that make a page unmistakably Vercel.
  • Move fluidly across mediums, from web, motion, and illustration to 3D and identity, raising the bar wherever the brand shows up.
  • Influence Geist and shared patterns through work good enough to become the standard.

Qualifications

  • Above all, a distinctive eye and original ideas: exceptional visual design instincts and creativity, with the web as the primary medium.
  • A portfolio spanning brand systems and work across multiple digital and physical mediums, anchored by strong shipped web work, with 8+ years of design experience.
  • Meaningful hands-on range across several of: motion, 3D, illustration, environmental and event design, and interaction.
  • Systems-minded: you design components and patterns, not one-offs, and consider how each choice fits a broader system.
  • Experience shaping launch moments, events, or brand-partnership surfaces under real deadlines.
  • Comfort collaborating with engineers and understanding the web as a medium: how layouts behave, what is buildable, how design becomes code.
  • Bonus: the ability to prototype in code (React, Tailwind, Next.js) or experience contributing to a design system at scale.
