Fully remote since 2011, which puts Help Scout in a very small group of companies that were distributed before it was fashionable and stayed that way. Around 120 people, more than ten thousand customers.
The platform stack at Help Scout is unusually broad for a company this size: Java and Kotlin, Postgres and MySQL, ClickHouse, Elasticsearch, Kafka and RabbitMQ on AWS. Search in particular is called out, and search over customer conversations is a harder problem than it looks.
