Software Engineer, Infrastructure

Hex makes a data workspace where people explore and analyse data with SQL, Python or plain language. Customers include Ramp, Figma and Anthropic. It has hubs in San Francisco and New York and remote staff across the US and UK.

The infrastructure team owns Hex's cloud infrastructure, CI/CD and observability across a multi-tenant platform and single-tenant customer environments. In your first months you would pick two or three projects, such as speeding up and cutting the cost of CI/CD, automating single-tenant stack setup and teardown, Postgres performance and migrations at scale, infrastructure cost visibility, workload and container isolation, or customer-facing features like private connectivity.

They want 5+ years building and running production infrastructure with on-call, strong Kubernetes operations, solid AWS (EKS, RDS, VPC networking, IAM), infrastructure as code (ideally Terraform), and enough application coding to change a pipeline or service. Depth in networking, Postgres at scale or deployment systems is a plus. The stack is AWS, PostgreSQL, Redis, DynamoDB, MSK, TypeScript, Python, Rust, Go, Terraform and Datadog.

Pay is $214,000 to $285,000 plus equity, with health benefits and flexible paid time off. Remote in the United States.
