Staff Platform Engineer

Redox runs a healthcare interoperability platform: organisations connect once and can then exchange real-time data with more than 12,000 systems, including over 100 electronic health record products. It processes more than a billion messages a month and is a fully remote US company.

The Platform team builds the automation, guardrails and infrastructure that let application developers ship reliably. This staff engineer is a hands-on individual contributor who takes an ambiguous area of platform work from scoping and prototyping to production code. Current themes include building foundations for AI agents to take part in engineering and operations safely, hardening the platform with the security team, consolidating tools and patterns, automating upkeep and making cloud and AI costs visible. You would join on-call for what you build.

The stack is AWS and EKS, GitHub Actions and ArgoCD, Terraform and Helm, Prometheus, Grafana and OpenTelemetry, Postgres, Redis and Kafka, with Node.js, TypeScript and Python services. They want 8+ years in cloud-native infrastructure or platform roles, deep AWS and production Kubernetes experience, strong infrastructure-as-code and GitOps practice, and good written communication. Regulated-industry, AI agent and observability experience are pluses.

Base pay is $185,000 to $210,000, plus stock options, unlimited time off, a paid sabbatical programme and benefits. Remote in the continental United States.
