About the role
Mux provides video infrastructure for developers: APIs for encoding, streaming, playback and analytics used by companies such as Patreon, Substack and Robinhood.
This senior data engineer joins a small analytics team and owns the company's internal data stack end to end, from ingestion through Snowflake and dbt to a semantic layer that AI agents query so people across Mux can ask business questions in Slack. The work covers warehouse architecture, permissions, CI/CD and cost, ingestion from production systems and business tools, orchestration and incident response, reverse ETL into tools like Salesforce and HubSpot, data contracts and observability, and building the semantic models behind the agents. Heavy everyday use of AI coding tools is expected.
Mux wants 5+ years of data engineering with a strong software engineering foundation, experience running a full data stack in production, deep dbt experience, hands-on cloud warehouse administration (Snowflake preferred), expert SQL and data modelling, strong Python, managed ingestion tools such as Fivetran or Airbyte, and comfort in AWS or GCP.
Estimated base salary is $190,000 to $220,000 a year, plus equity. Remote in the United States.
