AI Engineer
About the role
T-Rex Solutions is a government IT contractor. This AI engineer supports the IRS EDOS programme, which is modernising the agency's legacy tax processing systems.
You would design and build AI applications in Python on cloud services, lead prompt engineering work, and implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). The role covers evaluating large language models against benchmarks and custom metrics, fine-tuning models, and putting guardrails in place, with solid engineering practice around it: experiment tracking, Git, unit and integration tests, CI/CD for ML deployments, Docker and Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code. You would also help manage AI project delivery and work with client stakeholders on where AI can help.
T-Rex wants a bachelor's degree and 7+ years of experience, hands-on Azure OpenAI and AWS, strong Python, a deep understanding of RAG and prompt engineering, and experience leading delivery on AI and ML projects. US citizenship, an active IRS MBI clearance and current government-furnished equipment are required.
The base salary range is $100,000 to $152,000 a year. The role is 100% remote.
