Senior Software Engineer - Builder Platform

Temporal makes the open-source durable execution platform of the same name, along with Temporal Cloud. Its Builder Platform team runs the internal platform the rest of the company uses for agents, workflows and core engineering tools, and treats Temporal itself as "customer zero", feeding what it learns back into the product and its open-source frameworks.

As a senior engineer on this team you would build and run the agent platform that teams use to deploy, evaluate and govern their agents and agentic workflows, along with the AI infrastructure underneath it: LLM and MCP gateways with guardrails, fallbacks, usage and cost controls. The team also owns developer infrastructure such as source control and CI, so the work includes repository standards, reusable workflows and CI reliability, plus building agents and workflows that move engineering work from issue to production. You would take part in the on-call rotation.

Temporal wants solid software engineering fundamentals, proficiency in Go, TypeScript/JavaScript, Python or Java, experience with developer infrastructure, distributed systems, AI platforms or platform engineering, and hands-on use of agentic coding tools. Experience running Temporal applications or managing GitHub configuration at scale is a plus.

Base pay runs from $140,800 to $231,000 a year across three US location tiers, plus equity. Remote in the United States.
