How to read this

What this list establishes

Each entry links to an employer's own disclosure policy or published compensation. Fixed salaries count as disclosure too. A single advert proves that example, not that every role has a public band. Publishing pay does not establish worldwide eligibility or equal pay across countries.

Three questions before you apply
  • Is the number base salary or total compensation?
  • Does the range apply to your location and level?
  • Is it a current vacancy, a published policy or an older example?

A stated policy of showing the money

These sources describe what the employer publishes, so there is something to check before the first interview.

  1. Automattic's compensation page says salary ranges appear on each job page. It describes global ranges and paying in local currency where possible.

    Disclosure
    Salary ranges on job pages.
    Scope
Company compensation policy, rather than a single example.
    Check
Read the range for the specific role; the policy says offers can sometimes exceed it.
  2. Float's July 2021 article explains its decision to include salaries in all job descriptions. Its current careers page still describes a location-agnostic pay model.

    Disclosure
A published policy of including salaries in job descriptions.
    Scope
Policy article dated 20 July 2021; verify the current vacancy separately.
    Check
The older article's benchmark differs from today's careers page. Use the current advert for the actual offer.
  3. Raycast's March 2022 compensation article says it shares salaries publicly when hiring. It describes a London reference point and a location-independent framework.

    Disclosure
A stated policy of sharing salaries when hiring.
    Scope
March 2022 policy article, not confirmation of an open vacancy today.
    Check
The article describes UTC plus or minus three hours; check current location and time-zone requirements.

Published figures you can inspect

These are different kinds of evidence. An actual employee salary, a flat company rate and one advert's base are not interchangeable.

  1. Buffer publishes individual team salaries and its compensation formula. Its public page includes location-based cost-of-living bands, showing why transparency and equal pay everywhere are different promises.

    Disclosure
Team salaries and the formula used to calculate them.
    Scope
Existing employee compensation, not a universal offer for new applicants.
    Check
The formula includes location; compare the role, level and applicable band.

  2. Oxide publishes a $275,000 USD salary on its careers page, regardless of location. Some sales positions have a lower base with commission, so the flat figure is not a promise about every compensation package.

    Disclosure
$275,000 USD flat salary, with stated sales exceptions.
    Scope
A company-wide rate for covered roles, not a salary range.
    Check
Remote roles require at least four hours of Pacific Time overlap.

  3. Parabol's Account Executive / Customer Success Manager advert publishes an $80,000 USD base plus variable compensation and says the position is fully remote from anywhere.

    Disclosure
$80,000 USD base plus variable compensation.
    Scope
One advertised sales and customer-success role; not an engineering salary or a company-wide band.
    Check
Variable compensation is not quantified in the headline. Confirm the structure and whether the vacancy remains open.

Reading the caveats

How is this different from the Forcepull job board?

The board contains individual remote vacancies with numeric salaries. This resource looks at employers' disclosure practices, including companies or roles that are not on the board.

Does a salary range tell me what I will earn?

It gives you a starting point. Confirm the role's level, location rules, currency and whether the figure covers base pay alone. Equity and variable compensation can be separate.

Why include fixed salaries as well as ranges?

A fixed published salary is at least as concrete as a range. The important question is whether you can see the compensation before applying, and what that figure actually describes.
