About the role

GitHub is looking for an Outbound Product Manager to be the market-facing advocate for its security portfolio. You will translate deep product knowledge into compelling narratives for every audience, from developers to CISOs, and build GitHub's presence as the recognized leader in agentic security. The role partners with Product Management for depth, Product Marketing for launch coordination, and Sales for field insight, but the job is primarily outward-facing: advocating for the product, competing in the market, and shaping the public narrative.

Responsibilities

  • Translate GitHub's agentic security platform story into audience-specific value propositions: risk reduction for CISOs, platform consolidation for CTOs, workflow integration for engineers, and ROI for CFOs.
  • Become a recognized voice in the application security community, publishing original perspectives, engaging practitioners and security leaders, and positioning GitHub as a trusted authority on where AppSec is heading.
  • Build competitive narratives that demystify competitor claims with data, benchmarks, and real-world customer evidence.
  • Represent GitHub's security vision at executive briefings, analyst engagements, industry events, and customer advisory boards.
  • Enable the sales organization as new capabilities launch, equipping the field with the narrative, demos, and technical depth to position the security portfolio.
  • Drive the public narrative around GitHub Advanced Security's transformation into an agentic security platform through a sustained stream of technical content: blog posts, demos, deep-dives, and open source proof points.
  • Synthesize market signals from customers, competitors, and the field into actionable insights that influence roadmap priorities and go-to-market strategy.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in product, service, project or program management, software development, or product design (less with a relevant degree, or equivalent experience).
  • Experience creating high-quality technical content (blog posts, demos, presentations, technical deep-dives) at a sustained cadence.
  • Experience in developer tools, developer platforms, DevOps, or application security product domains.
  • Experience with AI/ML-powered product go-to-market, particularly in developer or security workflows.
  • Preferred: hands-on experience with application security concepts and tools such as static analysis, secret detection, and software composition analysis.
  • Preferred: a track record of thought leadership through public content and conference speaking, and experience positioning against well-funded competitors.
