About the role

Automattic seeks experienced engineers to help develop its product ecosystem. Recent work includes AI-powered tools, WooCommerce, Gutenberg (the block editor), and Tumblr.

What we look for

  • A focus on quality and treating debugging as problem-solving
  • Understanding of abstraction layers and the costs of abstractions
  • Production experience with multiple languages, primarily PHP and JavaScript
  • Experience working at scale with large, diverse user bases
  • Strong debugging and performance optimization skills
  • Willingness to travel 3-4 weeks annually for team meetups
