About the role
Blackbird is GitHub's lexical and semantic code search engine, and it now does double duty: search for humans, and context retrieval for Copilot's agents, code review, CLI and VS Code experiences.
Retrieval quality is the difference between an agent that understands a codebase and one that guesses, and Blackbird is the layer where that gets decided across an enormous corpus.
US remote, Rust, in the Copilot Agents organisation alongside a strong group of staff and principal engineers. Search at this scale is a specialism.
