Senior Data Scientist, Platform

Coinbase runs one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges and a wider platform for buying, storing and building with digital assets. It is remote-first, with quarterly in-person working sessions.

This senior data scientist works on the platform side, partnering with product, engineering and design. The job covers deep-dive analysis on ambiguous business problems, building, tuning and measuring online and offline ML models and AI systems used across the company, owning data and metrics from logging and definitions through to dashboards, reviewing code and writing well-maintained ETL jobs in SQL and Python, and keeping a high bar for experimentation and causal analysis.

Coinbase wants a degree in a quantitative field with 5+ years of relevant experience (or a PhD with 3+), a track record of data science projects in ambiguous problem spaces, practical modelling expertise applied to business problems, and professional SQL and Python.

Base pay is $180,370 to $212,200 a year, plus equity and bonus eligibility. Remote in the United States.
