Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Coinbase One)

Coinbase runs one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges and a wider platform for buying, storing and building with digital assets. It is remote-first, with quarterly in-person working sessions.

This engineer joins the Coinbase One team, which runs the company's paid subscription membership. You would own the backend services behind the membership lifecycle: sign-up flows, subscription management, recurring payments, benefit delivery and targeted promotions. The work includes setting architecture patterns for the product area, improving reliability, observability and performance, and shipping customer-facing features with frontend, product, design and payments teams.

They want 5+ years of backend engineering with production services at scale, experience building subscription, payments or commerce systems such as recurring billing and entitlements, and proficiency in Go or a similar systems language like Java, C++ or Rust. Experience designing APIs and distributed systems used across web and mobile matters, as does taking ambiguous projects through to production.

Base pay is $186,065 to $218,900, plus equity, bonus eligibility and benefits. Remote in the United States.
