About the role

Red Hat's Public Sector Technical Services team is looking for an experienced, enterprise-level engineer to join as an OpenShift Technical Account Manager. You will work with key enterprise customers to provide architectural guidance and implementation advice for Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and OpenShift Virtualization. This is not a sales role: you will be a dedicated customer engagement associate and a member of the Red Hat Engineering and Technical Support teams, tailoring technical support to customer environments, guiding application and VM modernization strategies, and advocating for customers inside Red Hat.

Responsibilities

  • Support enterprise customers implementing automated, containerized cloud application platform solutions and modernized virtual machine workloads.
  • Learn new technologies quickly, including container orchestration, virtualization on Kubernetes (KubeVirt), container registries, container build strategies, and microservices on container platforms.
  • Perform technical reviews and share knowledge to proactively identify and prevent issues.
  • Gain understanding of customer technical infrastructures, hardware, and offerings, and serve as a customer advocate within Red Hat.
  • Collaborate with the engineering, R&D, product management, and technical support teams.
  • Create documentation covering customer issues and the technical detail needed to resolve them.
  • Manage and grow customer relationships by delivering attentive, relationship-based support, with occasional travel to regional customers.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a support, development, engineering, IT, or QA organization.
  • Expertise with enterprise cloud solutions like OpenShift, containers, Kubernetes, plus exposure to Red Hat ACM and Ansible automation.
  • Hands-on experience with OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt) or traditional hypervisors (VMware vSphere, RHV, KVM), with a strong desire to bring that knowledge to Kubernetes-native virtualization.
  • Competent comprehension of enterprise architecture and strategic business drivers.
  • Ability to manage multiple issues and projects with shifting priorities, paired with outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • US citizenship required for the Confirmed Stateside Support offering.
  • Nice to have: VM migration to Kubernetes (Migration Toolkit for Virtualization), DevOps environments, RPM-based Linux and Java, CI/CD concepts, Git, security clearance, and public sector experience.
