Staff Software Engineer, Infrastructure Foundations

Temporal makes the open-source durable execution platform of the same name and runs Temporal Cloud, its managed service. The Infrastructure Foundations team builds and operates the multi-cloud platform underneath Temporal Cloud across AWS, GCP and Azure.

As a staff engineer you would design and build the next version of that platform as it moves to Kubernetes-based infrastructure for much larger scale. That means the abstraction model that makes three clouds behave as one, a declarative model for how components are described, versioned and reconciled, a deployment control plane for safe rollouts across many teams, and HA/DR for the control infrastructure. Cell creation and provisioning run as Temporal workflows, so you would also shape how Temporal runs on Temporal. You would lead design reviews, coach senior engineers and help hire.

Temporal wants 10+ years building software with significant time on distributed production infrastructure, production experience on at least two of AWS, GCP and Azure including Kubernetes-based platforms, deep Kubernetes knowledge, and strong coding in Go or another systems language. Kubernetes controllers and operators, Crossplane or ACK, and Terraform and Helm experience are pluses.

Pay is $169,600 to $278,250 a year depending on US location tier, plus equity. Remote in the United States.
